Dr. James Robinson grew up in a small town in south Alabama. He attended Patrick Henry Jr. College and then Auburn University before graduating from Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1976. He worked for three years in Nashville, TN before moving to Bristol and then to Johnson City to join Mountain Empire Animal Hospital, where he was a partner for eleven years. Robinson Animal Hospital was started in 1992 and has grown from a one doctor, one hospital organization to a multiple doctor, three hospital organization that now offers 24 hour care. Dr. Robinson enjoys all aspects of small animal veterinary medicine, but has special interests in surgery, dermatology, and internal medicine. Working with the younger veterinarians and educating the staff and clients using his years of experience makes his job as fun today as it was so many years ago.
Dr. Robinson lives with his wife, Kim, their herd of cats, and five dogs on a hilltop home in the middle of the woods in Carter County. Together he and Kim have four children and one grandchild. His hobbies include traveling with his wife, Auburn Football, landscaping, building, the mountains, and his car collection. He has been a member of Central Baptist Church for many years and is a member of Johnson City Country Club.
Sadly, we lost Dr. Robinson on March 2nd, 2018, after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. Our practice, employees, clients and entire community mourn the loss of a gifted veterinarian and teacher, and a truly fine person. He left us far too soon. He left a legacy that will live on.
